Looking forward to my next trip to this location. Came here for the first time and can confidently say I was not disappointed. From the ambiance, service, drinks, and food there was nothing that I would change from my experience. Started with the Crawfish Bread, while delicious personally couldn't get past the texture (personal preference), otherwise it was tasty and would recommend. Also did the Oysters which were flavorful and left me wanting more. As for entree I did the chicken gumbo with white rice, I believe I did the mild version to be safe on the level of spice. Concluded dinner with the Chocolate Praline Cake and Ice Cream and let me just say, what a way to close out the dinner experience. I will be back!

I visited Filé Gumbo Bar twice during my five day visit to NYC during the week of June 17. Both times I was greeted by someone with a giant smile. In my first visit there was such a chill vibe and a nice crowd of people. I loved the atmosphere. I was seated at the bar and the server was pleasant. I had the Louisiana BBQ shrimp. I was not expecting this dish to be swimming in melted butter. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I saw a picture of the dish on the website and I was expecting the same. The flavor was a little bland. I am not sure if I would order the appetizer again. For the main course I had the blackened black drum fish with crawfish étouffée. Now this dish had so much flavor. The fish was prepared very well and the étouffée was delicious and had a great spicy kick. I cannot say enough about this dish. **chefs kiss** On my second visit I ordered take out. Every one who assisted me was super nice. This time I ordered Tinys gumbo and I went all in with the shrimp, crab, chicken, and andouille sausage. Once again, this gumbo was very delicious and seasoned so well. I also had the andouille sausage and shrimp which did not disappoint. Not too spicy and I detected a great smokey flavor. I also had a side of green beans. I am looking forward to visiting again. I hope to be able to try the other dishes. Great job Filé Gumbo Bar!

Grabbed a quick dinner here for Juneteenth. Had a colleague visiting NYC from HQ in DC and we decided to take him out. I was able to get same day reservations 2 hours prior. Our reservation was for 5:15pm, 2 of us arrived at 4:45pm and it was PACKED!! They had a nice little vibe going, music was playing, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Once all our party arrived, we were seated right away. The service was good, not exceptional but good. One of the hostess was a bit abrasive but everyone else was good. The food came out pretty fast for them being very busy. Some of the apps actually came before the drinks. Drinks: I had the French 75 with cognac, it was really good! My colleague had it with gin and enjoyed his as well. My other friends had Prosecco and the file southern sour, no complaints. Food: we started with the chargrilled oysters, fried okra, house potato chips. The house potato chips were really good. The oysters were okay, they were lacking a bit of flavor and they were $3.50 each on HH (seems high for HH), we ordered 15 which came to $52.50. The fried okra was underwhelming, I think they were fried too hard. We also had the crawfish bread which was pretty good. For entrees we had the Tiny's gumbo (they have meat and spice level options), po boy sandwich, and the Cajun fried chicken with beans & rice. I personally had the gumbo (all meats combo, spicy) and I really enjoyed it. It was very flavorful and the portion was filling. Everyone else also said they enjoyed their meal. I'm missing pics of most of the items cuz this was sort of a business dinner and I didn't wanna be "that guy!" Lol I'll definitely go back to try some more items.
